Default We've lost Bull Creek

Austin is continuing it's death march toward becoming just another Texas city with the news that Bull Creek has become too contaminated to swim in.

Hamilton Pool is brown with sediment, and development continues in the Barton Creek watershed. It's only a matter of time before we lose Barton Springs and swimming at the greenbelt.

This city is quickly becoming a place not worth caring about. I bet a lot of the people who shot this city's property values through the roof by coming here to enjoy its "quality of life" will agree and seek out greener pastures. It's a sad day for Austin.

Why'd the ding dong owners of the land Hamilton's Pool sat on sell it off parcel by parcel for development in the first place? My husband remembers camping there when it was almost totally unknown. He'll be sad to learn this, as it was one of his favorite places to go.

Is it really brown with sediment? I went swimming there this past summer and it was great. Although, maybe it used to be crystal-clear, I dunno.

Development upstream has caused a lot of runoff. Because it's now tied up in the legal system..the runoff continues.

It probably is due to a sewage spill a few weeks ago. Lake travis gets closed after rains for the same reason. It isnt the end of the world

The Office of the Attorney General, on behalf of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Travis County have filed suit in district court against Rodman Excavation, Inc. and Coldwater Development, Ltd. in connection with environmental damage to Hamilton Pool.
