I am visiting Austin next Saturday and I'm in charge of planning a play date for Saturday morning for two little girls (ages 7 and 8).

I am not familiar with play date venues in Austin so I am looking for ideas. Of course I can use Google to search but I'm hoping for some local input.

One of the little girls says "nothing to do with princesses" but that's the only criteria so far.

Thank you!

You will need to provide an area in and around Austin as I'm sure you don't want to drive an hour to get somewhere. Location will help you get better responses.

There is the Austin Zoo, many trampoline places that are indoors, many swimming places, and many hiking places. How far do you want to drive?

Oh, thank you for letting me know that. I lived in Austin a long time ago when you could drive anywhere in Austin within 45 min.

We will be in Southwest Austin so anything South or Central would be great.

Oddly enought, there is a 30% chance of rain on Saturday and the high is only 95. So cool enough to be outside, but may rain? Anyway, are you looking to spend money? As mentioned, the zoo can be fun, if they like feeding animals and such. It is shady and kind of small, but you can get up close with the tigers, and feed some of the more mundane animals (sheep, goats, deer). It is a rescue zoo, so by no means fancy but not too expensive, either.

If they are swimmers, look at Barton springs pool and park, they can take a train ride there, as well.

There are the usual bouncy houses, laser tags, and trampoline places, ofc....

If it rains, other indoor things could be Painting with a Twist or Art Attack if they are creative.

We went to Art Attack. The girls enjoyed it, and my son tagged along and he enjoyed it, too.

Glad to hear they have fun! The only negative is that you have to wait for your final product.
