I think you might be right on that...
Thank-you for advising; the schools here seem to have been hit with a population explosion. Have two, and soon to be three, going to Cox, and one going to Henry. |

Bruce I have been reading your posts and will be keeping tabs on where you end up,lol. We visit my son often and have looked pretty good at RR,CP and GT. We really like georgetown the best, it's not as heavy on the traffic and it still has lots of land. You might want to check out Liberty hill, it has homes in your price range sitting on 1 acre lots. There's also older neighborhoods with 1 or more acreas in GT, if you don't mind older homes.

Thank-you! I will have to go for some drives out that way now. And now I see why there are no scorpions around here; no one left them any room. Probably got buried under the toll way.

Today didn't mess with my head as much as yesterday. I never had a 90° day in February, so that had me a little displaced, not that I objected. Back in Zeeland, MI, they were having more snow storms and temps that would be in the teens. Snow is great from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day, but after that, y'all down here have it made. One of the first things I noticed coming into Texas was "Gee, look. There really are big old ranches like in the TV shows!!!". The next was "What the heck are those weeds? Oh my goodness, they have freakin' cactuses (cacti?) growing wild out here!". Back home, well back from the old home, the only place I would see a cactus was in the plant section of the Home Depot. And the magnificent palms you folks (we) have out here! Those things are really cool! I bet you folks take them for granted. But I have not noticed any blue or green spruce... I kind of worry it might be a bit too much for them. I even brought with me a baby white pine (state tree of Michigan). Hope it makes it. Also brought, along with the four daughters, my dog (a lab), a cat, a lizard and a fish. On loading the car on the final leg, on leaving the La Quinta in Rockwall, my oldest daughter came to me in a panic as fishy (a beta) was laying in it's tank without any water. Daughter was so afraid the sister who owns fishy would see and start crying, and one daughter was already crying her eyes out so I thought she saw it (turned out she found something all together else to be screaming about). Over her confusion I demanded to have fishy, ran into the room we had checked out of and dumped water into the tank. After a few tense seconds and intense prayers to God (for real), fishy started swimming again and is fine to this day. Now if I can only get the idiot cat to quit pissing all over the house. My wife is going to kill me over that.
Well, I actually want to go out to some area I can legally walk and see some scorpions - are there any parks close to CP that I have a shot at that? Yeah, I am an idiot. I am the kind that goes outside when there is a tornado warning in hopes of seeing one. Also, if y'all can ignore my assessment of myself, anyone know of any work open at any area airports? I am an operations manager by schooling and experience and love finding ways to improve processing - though no formal 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or Lean 6 Sigma training, I am somewhat self taught in the disciplines (yet I find most of the concepts to be common sense). If not airports, I sure would like to find something tech oriented. OK, I will quit burning this forum for now and give others a chance... |

You might head over to Georgetown (not that far away from Cedar Park) and hit the Goodwater Trail - might be some scorpions in there, you never know. And while you're there, you can check in with the Georgetown Airport.

My girls are bringing me back beautiful brown nuts from trees rather common around here - they (the nuts, that is) are about an inch or a little longer somewhat oval and go from a rather light tan on the "cap" end to a rich dark chocolaty brown toward a sort of pointed end. Anyone know what these things are? That is, I know that they are nuts, just what kind of nuts...
Also, in need of: 1) A good internal medicine doctor - tried ARC and was amazed at how well they have perfected the art of pretending to be doctors while pushing you through like poop through a goose in a mill masquerading as a professional doctors' office, making certain to give you a few moments to talk then refer you over all of hell's half acre to different specialty doctors for apparently the doctor there is actually a referral specialist. 2) A good TV repair place - trustworthy... |

Those sound like acorns, from your description. We have several kinds of oak trees in this area and, thus, several kinds of acorns.
The other possibility is a pecan - native pecan, maybe? |

Possibly, yet weird in my experience. You are quite right in the shading now that I think of it, but because of my history of living in northern states, the only acorns I know of are much less elongated, which would account for my not recognizing them as such! I will have to take a look at the leaves of the trees, for I suspect they still have roughly the same shape!
Nothing on reliable/trustworthy TV repair in Cedar Park, eh? My wife just prodded me on that one again, and soon she'll get out the cattle rod. |

Acorns can actually grow pretty big, about the size of a pecan.
