Hello Everyone,
I read through some of the threads on this Austin forum which answered most of the questions I had. Now, I have a very specific question and decided to post a new thread myself. Here it goes: I am thinking about relocating to Austin, TX from Ann Arbor, MI. My work place is located at Riata Court Industrial Park, Austin. Ideally, I would like to find a good apartment close to my workplace (about 15 - 20 mins drive and/or 5 mile radius ). A few people have told me about apartments in the Jollyville area. I am looking for a decent 2 bedroom apartment with a good gym. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help! I |

There are apartments within the Riata Trace area.

I used to live here:
Welcome to RIATA! I can't say one negative thing about living there. There are about seven different "villages" to choose from in every price range. And you could walk or ride your bike to work! |

You have a ton of good apartment complexes to choose from in a 5 mile radius. I agree, Riata would be a natural choice. My son lived there and said they had a nice fitness center onsite. There are also hiking trails and a little park. If you wanted to branch out a bit, there are lots of options. There are several apartments on McNeil Rd, the Jollyville area as you mentioned, and also look in the Arboretum area - that's close enough that your commute would be 5-10 minutes and you'd be close to shopping and restaurants too. If you do an online yellow pages search for apartments in the 78759 zip code, you'll see what I'm talking about.

My husband and I enjoyed living at the Verandah at Grandview Hills at 620/2222 before purchasing our home. The views are breathtaking and the amenities/landscaping are very nice. They are located at: 8600 North FM 620 Austin, TX 78726. phone: 512-401-0444.

My roommate and I moved here in July from Mt. Pleasant and Macomb County Michigan respectively. We love it here. We want to move closer to downtown as that is where most of the action is. We currently live in Rattan Creek which is really close to where you will work. The apartments are huge and really nice. I like living here but this whole area seems to be filled with older married people, and the $40 cab ride from 6th after drinking is a bit taxing.
I would recommend checking out Rattan Creek, it is a bit cheaper than Riata and really nice. There is a bar, a hand full of restaurants and a grocery store all within walking distance. the neighborhood is really safe and quiet too. Lot's of professionals live here Here is what we have. 2 bed 2 bath 1221 square feet fireplace balcony 3rd floor covered parking -optional (50 total a month extra for two) washer and dryer in unit -optional (30 a month extra) rent is 995 a month total plus we got a move in special that gave us 700 off the first month's rent If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Are you moving all your stuff yourself? We hired movers through a company called Whitestar, they weren't that expensive but they took 10 days to get us our stuff and nothing was broken. Best of luck, Patrick |

Oh yeah I forgot,
we also have a pool, a cool clubhouse, and a weight room, but as far as gyms go there are a ton around here that aren't that expensive at all...and I mean a ton. |
