Pure fantasy land.

Plus the fact that the hardcore downtown bicyclists would abhor the thought of another, sporting venue which would attract automobile traffic and the more affluent (those who can actually afford pro sport tickets & $8 beers).

Interestingly, while the Austin region population is growing, I get no sense of any support to bring in a major league pro team from any of the five main spectator sports (football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey soccer).

I could see an MLB or MLS team possibly, though I think it's unlikely, but I think there is zero chance of an NFL team in my lifetime, and probably my kids.

I think the bigger question is whether Austin will get ANY pro sports franchises, and the answer is no for the foreseeable future.

This is something we agree on.

I don't see having a pro sport team as legitimizing Austin. As a matter of fact, not having one speaks to not taking the beaten path.

Not true. There was good turnout by the bike community, including myself, at F1. This was taken earlier in the day at the bike corral before it mostly filled up.

They had a bike ride event at COTA, and my wife was at that and had a grand time....she did say that hill kicked her posterior, though.
