I find it disrespectful that I am considered disrespectful if I say Merry Christmas.

I say "Merry Christmas," in all settings. I work in retail and sometimes people will say "Hanukah," or "Solstice," and I kind of just nod and smile and let it float there. I'm not religious, but I'm tired of "Happy Holidays." They don't even let Santa visit my cousins in their public school anymore because other people might get offended. It's absolutely absurd.

I just stick with "Bah Humbug", then you don't have to worry about offending any religion in particular. Plus, it's cheaper

Merry Christmas!
Good grief! I think it is so lame that this is even a debate. Who is offended by this term? If someone said "Happy Hanukkah" to me I would not be offended in the slightest and I would say it back to them with a smile. I'm fine with being PC, but this just seems ridiculous.

As usual, everything comes down to simplistic reasoning and self-righteousness: "my way or the highway" - "why should I have to conform to blah, blah, blah", "majority rules", etc. Boring stuff really.
If you say "Merry Christmas", you're offending someone, if you say "Happy Holidays" you're being an annoying PC person. So instead of that, now we have folks militantly saying "MERRY CHRISTMAS"...regardless of other people's beliefs. Kind of an "I celebrate Christmas, so "F-you" sort of thing It sort of comes off as arrogant and misguided. That's the Christmas spirit. Way to consider the finer elements of people and culture.
For the record, I say "Merry Christmas" to everybody I know who has a Christian background, or as a response to the same, "Happy Hanukkah" to my Jewish friends and "Happy Holidays" to anyone I don't know. It's not really that hard to remember and I don't feel like I'm compromising myself or being PC. It just seems reasonable no?
For most people, Christmas has become more of a "goodwill" holiday, to be celebrated by many, regardless of religious belief. To me, that's the best part of the holiday. But I'm not annoyed by people who use other terms or greetings and salutations because they are uncomfortable with using the term "Christ-mas". Why should it bother me?
Now if someone wants to legislate against my using "Merry Christmas" for political correctness, I will tell them that they are inconsiderate and insane and that they can "go to hell".

You probably wouldn't, but apparantly one or two very loud people were, that's why you hear "Happy Holidays" so much. I wouldn't be bothered if someone told me Happy Hanukkah either. At least it's much more specific than "Holiday". Bah Humbug as well Someone in Ft. Collins, Colorado was apparantly offended enough by Red and Green Christmas lights that the ACLU got involved. Luckily, they lost that one. There are plenty of people who do try and legislate against it. I guess someone has to keep the ACLU in business.

I don't think anyone here's offended, we're just having a semantical discussion. At least that's what I'm having...with myself anyway.
Anyone who is offended by something like that is probably too sensitive.

There's a house on West San Antonio in San Marcos every year that has 6 foot tall lights in the yard that says "Bah Hum Bug".
Always made me laugh when I lived down the street years ago.
