Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
What is used more often in Austin?
Here in LA it's all "Happy Holidays!" Drives me nuts.

Happy Holidays means wishing you well for all 3 holidays,
Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Years. Tis the holiday season.
Merry Christmas for Christmas. What is all the hub bub about?

It's just more polite to wish someone "Happy Holidays". Just because YOU celebrate Christmas, doesn't mean others do. It's kind of weird that being respectful "drives you nuts" when it's really not that big of deal to say one over the other.

Yea, I mean it seems reasonable and considerate that if you know someone celebrates Christmas, you wish them a "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" or whatever. If you don't know, you can say "Happy Holidays" or Seasons Greetings" etc. I personally like Happy Holidays as it's very traditional and is inclusive to anyone.
What the hell is wrong with that? And why would it bother you?
By the same token, I do think people on both sides of this issue make too big of a deal about it. Isn't there anything more worthwhile and important to get upset and indignant about?

I say Merry Christmas- PERIOD. And to be honest the only reason I say that is to mess with the people that are WAY too PC! BTW, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!

Wow, didn't mean to start a whole debate here...
In my original post, I just wanted to find out how prevalent "Happy Holidays" is in Austin.
(For the record, I say Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year.)

I say Merry Christmas irregardless. Then, if someone asks me otherwise, I'll comply w/ the appropriate term for that persons preference.
