Just curious. I see a McNeil Dr (Spicewood) off 183 and a McNeil Dr off 2222. Were there ever or are there plans to connect them someday? Not saying I want it, so no one get all defensive, just curious I assume that beautiful land in between is protected, but you never know...

That would be a heck of a stretch! Spicewood SPRINGS Rd. does some crazy stuff as well. When we first moved here, our insurance agency was on Spicewood Springs Rd. Being adventurous, we started at Jim's restaurant at the transition from McNeil to Spicewood Springs Rd, thinking we would just drive along until we got to the address! What we found was a very scenic, somewhat challenging trek through the edge of the hill country, twisting and turning, skipping 1/4 mile along 360, a right angle turn at Old Lampasas Trail and generally a nice trip around your elbow to get to your ear!

Welcome to central Texas!

Welcome to Austin where streets change names randomly and the same street, not connected, exists in multiple places. Considering that McNeil Dr turns into Spicewood Springs heading out towards 2222, I don't see how they would ever even been considered the same road. And then let's not forget the multiple existences of McNeil Rd (as opposed to Dr.). Crazy, huh?

Don't forget there are at least 5 or 6 streets off of Lamar Blvd. that are all called Shoal Creek Blvd. and yet none of them actually connect.
