Before I get started, i would just like to say, it is pronounced MAY-NER, not man-or. Okay.
It does have very nice neighborhoods such as Shadow Glen and Briarwood. Shadow Glen has a very nice pool with two water slides and a golf course. It also has many acres of land and gorgeous country. Manor has improved in education very much in the past few years. They have even opened a technology school in Manor, which is project based. It is called Manor New Tech High. Manor is no worse in crime than the other cities in Travis/Williamson Counties. It also has some great resteraunts, such as Ramos', Tacos and More, and Papa Geno's Pizza. It also has a Subway and Sonic. Manor ISD is growing rapidly with six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two highschools. Manor is only a few minutes from Austin with cheaper homes, so what's a few minutes for a nice house that cost less? The people are generally very kind and most of the children/teens have nice tradtional manners.
If I can say one more thing about Manor, it has the potential! It's going to be great in the near future.

I'll add my two cents worth - there will be a new high school and middle school built right down the road from Blake Manor Elementary. It's on the corner of Hog Eye Road and Blake Manor Rd. It should be quite interesting to see when it goes in - although we've seen people in and out up there. Since we've been here, there has been an HEB go up in Elgin (that was nice) and then the restaurants have started coming. I would expect that once the schools go up, then lots of stuff will change, after all - those kids are not going to sit out here with nothing to eat for lunch. I've ate in the schools and if I could leave I would! Not griping, but it's standard School Lunch food.
We're going to step out and put our house back on the market - I can't imagine that someone who wants peace and quiet wouldn't look at it. Also there will be six acres & house behind us up for sale in the Spring. Kids moved, and now we can't stand being away from the grandkids....so the grandparents will follow.
Trees, quiet, and the fact that your kids don't have to be hauled up to the school. If I had kids I'd be glad to have the school this close. I remember hauling kids back and forth from Gracy Woods to Pflugerville High School. Now talk about spending gas money.......
They keep talking about the "railway" the RED line, then more stuff coming in, plus the 290 "toll" road, even though lots of us fussed about it, but it will help the traffic tremendously. There are supposed to be frontage roads as well as the toll areas. I think that the economy hasn't helped us out here, nor has the City of Austin, nor the State of Texas, but Manor hasn't died out yet - and it's moving along. It has changed tremendously since we moved out here and for the most part it's been okay. I think it will follow Pflugerville's footsteps as well.....

The reason manor is so much cheaper is the fact that it is simply less desirable. I was raised in that town, it is full of poverty. The subdivision houses are not as great as they say they are. They've been having serious problems with them since they were built when I was in high school. There's a lot of crime, violence, and drugs. Expect stuff to get stolen. Leander and Cedar Park is worth the extra cash.

I have been living in Manor for two years....I have never had anything stolen, we are not poverty stricken, I always leave my doors unlocked, I have never seen any drugs being sold and never experienced violence here. We also live in one of the least expensive subs in Manor......compared to where we came from, Manor is heaven. I guess it's all a matter of perspective and expectation. :-)

We hope to rent a house due to our chaotic household of 2 children - 1 and 3 years old.
Manor seems to be much more reasonable than Cedar Park/Leander, but just wondering why... the houses look just as nice...
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Manor has been selling like hot cakes. The toll way and many other things are happening to manor. They are now building million dollar sub out there as well. The price is right for homes, and you can reach down town austin in less then 30min. I'm a realestate investor and there is alway something good in area like Manor for afforable house. If you need help let me know.

Don't waste your time with Manor. Spend a little extra money and go for Cedar Park instead. Unless of course you enjoy being around uneducated people who are mostly poor.

Manor is not selling like hot cakes. The number of residential building permits issued for them peaked in 2004.

Didn't you in another post just proclaim how liberal you are? I thought liberals typically celebrated their compassion toward the poor, but it seems that you find it distasteful to have to rub elbows with them. Hmm.
