Just went to TJ in Rollingwood and asked about the Arboretum location. He said it should be open by June 2014. Yay!

Default Trader Joes Arboretum

Good!!! I've been waiting. Anyone know where specifically it will be? I haven't seen any construction in that area...just curious.

The old Saks space. Next to Sbux. They are 3 months behind schedule and the date keeps moving further and further back.

Or if you are ancient, the old Simon David space. Sort of coming full circle.

Could they PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pretty PLEASE re-draw the parking space lines in that parking lot? I don't get the arboretum parking - they took an average-sized sedan, subtracted 4" and drew the lines. Have an SUV or a truck? You'll be over the lines or won't be able to get in. I've had to crawl in from my passenger side door (of my small-ish sedan!) TWICE in that lot.

Does anyone have any theories as to why the parking spaces are so small there?

Even though I'm 'awaiting' two knee replacements(waiting a LONG time, I hope), I'll park out by the street in front of Newk's any time I visit that center. Less convenient for grocery shopping; but my TJ's goodies can fit into a couple of bags...very manageable.

I'm with you on the small spaces; one of my pet peeves(or pet peas as my little sister called them). Just do as the extended cab PLUS trailer hitch driver did Wednesday in the Domain garage...park where and how you like!!! The hitch ball was literally within 6 feet of the line dividing the lanes!!! Front of the truck was at least four feet from the wall in that space!!! Hope it got towed!

You can thank the City of Austin land development code. It requires one space for every 275 sq. ft. of retail, and in lots of more than 12, up to 30% may be "compact". The problem is, Austin has the smallest spaces in the state - 7.5' x 15'. Round Rock and Fort Worth - not allowed. San Antonio - 30%, 8' x 17'. Houston - 35% (of more than 40 spaces), 8.5' x 17'. Dallas - 35%, 7.5' x 16'.
