Any opinions on the Del Valle area? my spouse and I are both retired military and going to school in Austin. We are moving in the next couple months. I actually drove through Los Ciellos area and it seemed fine to me, with most of the homes looking nice and well cared for. We don't want to spend a fortune on rent and it seems like a good option for a decent house that won't break the bank. I've already done the drive and the traffic isn't an issue for me. Just wondering about opinions about that specific area...

Schools suck, but that doesn't sound like a concern for you.

I wouldn't buy there, but renting should be totally fine. Make sure you get a renters insurance policy.

Thanks for your input. We are strictly look to rent, due to relocation after college is over... It will only be for about two years... From what I've seen so far, it's definitely the best bang for your buck... we can't get a decent house inside of austin without overspending... And do you know anything about utilities? I saw that they may be cheaper than inside of Austin.

We want to stay as close to $1,000 as possible. We need two bedrooms, a garage and a yard. We can get that plus some in Del Valle for around $1,150...
