Default How to Meet Small Business Owners

Are there any small business owners on this forum? Does anyone know of any local associations for small business owners or other ways to meet some?

one of the best groups is bootstrap austin. Lots of actual business owners attend meetings and they have a mailing list. There are also "bootboards" where 6-8 owners of businesses get together once a month to discuss business issues, go over financials etc.

Look in the back of the Austin Business Journal and you'll find a listing of many local business group meeting times and places. Many are industry specific (like my monthly Property Manager's meeting), but others are generic or location based (like the Oak Hill Business and Professionals Association), still others, of which there are many, are network/leads based and have limited membership based on the services you offer (they don't want 10 accountants for example).

So, depending on the purpose of wanting to find such groups, you have many to pick from.

Steve

That's great info. We're manufacturers, not IT, and were afraid we wouldn't find a venue to meet and chat with other small, non-IT business owners. We're not looking for sales lead; we're looking for a community. Thanks for your thoughts.
