Oh. Totally different from what I thought you were talking about. Those are extremely common.

From where you are eastward, it is often windy...even when it's relatively calm at the weather reporting stations. We had a fire pit in the back yard for three years and never used it. All those cedar fences surrounding the back yards just look like fuses to me. Of course, it would depend on the layout, but I just never took the chance. YMMV as they say. Cowboy BIL cooks over a fire pit made from an oil well cap...at least once a week. But he's out in the boonies(read: Lometa)

maybe ill just ditch the fire log one and get a propane powered pit? those sound a little bit safer on account of the dry conditions

I would love something like that (or a chiminea) for my deck. I don't want to be the one that's held responsible for burning down my neighborhood, however.

No problem with backyard firepits or firepit tables like that - they are great for the Fall, "Winter", & Spring around here.

But it looks like the cool weather has just about passed on, so it might be 5 or 6 months before it'll be comfortable to fire one up.

Didn't need a fire going in my firepit patio table last summer...

See above...just about the last thing you need around here(unless you are cooking) is a source of heat(for about 9 months of the year).

It's a fire pit , nothing technical about it and easy to use.

ScoPro: what kind of shrubs are those in the background? They look nice and are trimmed very well. How old are they?

And the grass! WoW! I wish I could get grass to grow here but it's hopeless.

Last time i checked it was the OP that has the fire pit not you, it is their choice to have one or not. Just because you dont have a use for it or feel like its needed doesnt mean everyone else should be dictated that as well.

Its nice to light up during the cooler nights.

I'm in Hutto and lots of people have those. I'm wanting one too. There's not too much need for it right now though, as it was 95 today. Just put it in your backyard and use it whenever you want.
