Estimate of commute from CP, N Austin, Pflugerville, and Round Rock (Cedar Park: job, traffic)

Can someone give me an estimate of the commute time during regular morning traffic from Cedar Park, North Austin/Wells Branch area, Pflugerville, and Round Rock? My husband will have a toll pass if he gets the job he's interviewing for on Monday.

He'll be driving all over Austin, but mostly downtown.

Well, from Pflugerville to North Austin (no highway) it takes me anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours on any given day.

All it takes is one accident on the highways to put all the local traffic around Austin in gridlock.

I go the opposite way, but ditto to what HappyTexan said. I would expect about 20-25 minutes on average, but if it's raining or there's a wreck it could sometimes double that. Sometimes when it's a random school holiday or when UT is not in session it may be less. The toll passes are nice, I have never dealt with traffic on any of the toll roads. The time consuming part will be actually getting into downtown, either off Mopac or I35, which he would probably have to deal with coming from anywhere, unless you actually lived downtown.

So if you're comparing those areas by commute time to downtown, I'd just find a neighborhood I liked close to a tollway. The time difference will be actually getting to the tollway, and as Rae' said, the time consuming part is getting into downtown from anywhere.

What about commute time from Cedar Park to S IH-35/E. Ben White? I may be getting a job in that area.

It takes me about 20 minutes to get from Cedar Park to the Mo-Pac/71 intersection in the evening at 7 (so after most traffic). It used to take me about 15-20 minutes longer than that at about 4 or 5:00. So I would guess without traffic to get over to I35 and 71, about 30 minutes and with traffic an hour, more if there is an accident.

From Cedar Park to Ben White takes me about 30 minutes with no traffic. With traffic though, probably 1 hr and 15. The main thing to consider is time of day (Rush hour traffic). You learn to find back ways that end up being much quick than a simple highway route.

From the middle of Cedar Park to the intersection of MoPac and 71 is right at 25 miles, with the speed limit pretty much being 65 mph the whole way. At the speed limit, that would be about 23 minutes. Remember, driving into/out of your neighborhood will be around 5 minutes and getting off the highway and negotiating your way to your final destination will probably be another 5 minutes (give or take). So the optimistic number (20 minutes) can turn into a closer to reality number of 33 minutes w/o traffic. Of course, the 5 minutes (or whatever it really is) at the beginning and end don't vary much, really, so rush hour will see the 23 minutes in the middle stretch, but not the departure/arrival times.
