TIPS FOR NORTHERNERS MOVING TO TEXAS:

17. You can ask a Texan for directions, but unless you already know the positions of key hills, trees and rocks, you're better off trying to find it yourself.
I laughed real hard when I re-read this one.
I have since moved further out into the country and live in a rural county now (Milam).

I take "county road behind the airport" or "county road by the railroad tracks" or the "dirt road past the 2nd church". I've been here for a few years now and still can't remember these roads proper names.

And I have no clue when someone tells me to go "past so-and-so's place" as I don't know who so-and-so is yet They don't tell me the road name, they describe the house instead.

When the locals asked me where I lived and I told them I found out that I live in "the old so-and-so place" - the original owners back in 1930.

We don't hate southern Californians. We just think they talk funny.
Definitely a southern California thing. Even when they came to Northern cal, it sounded funny.
