Default Have young children and moving to austin

Hi there, we are thinking about relocating to austin. We are in dallas now, and it just seems to be a dead end! We have some friends that are single and living in austin, so im not so sure they can help us out on deciding which area fits us..... We are in our late 20s and have a 2 year old, and thinking about more....we want the austin origional feel....we just want something different! My husband wants to be right in the middle of it, but i want in a newer development, close to the action, but not so much in the middle of it.... im ready to really grow up, and be around other couples at the same point in their lives that we are in ours now....any suggestions????

If you are looking for family-friendly areas: Circle C, Shady Hollow area, Steiner Ranch.

Not necessarily in the thick of things, but not much of a drive either. They are newer areas and typical suburban homes. But they have the typical suburban amenities that make them kid-friendly like pools and parks and such.

We moved to Circle C in August and we love it. Our neighbors are friendly (lots of kids) and it takes us 15 min. or so to get to the places we like to play (Zilker park for one).

There's a development that looks kind of interesting and might appeal to a 20-something with a two year old. I think it's called Independence or Independence Austin I think. They're smaller homes but the way they're designed, they encourage a lot of mingling between residents.

I honestly know little about the area, but came across their site recently and the homes look really neat:

Mods: I hope that was ok to post.

I'd check out the Mueller Development. It's being built right now and it's close to the action. I bet there's LOADS of young families living there (or will be soon). Actually you'd probably do well in any of the intown neighborhoods if you can afford them.
