is this a joke?

anywhere they want!

I don't have the census figures at hand but the Russian born and first gen immigrant Russian population in Austin is very small, probably numbering in the hundreds. Couple of thousand tops. There is no ethnic enclave.

I found this: According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey for 2010-12, 78,500 Texans said that they were of Russian ancestry. By comparison, the number exceeds 455,000 in New York state. Those 78,500 Texans are also spread out across the state, with the majority of Russian immigrants living in Houston and Dallas.

First ancestories reported for Austin: Russian: 2742

Probably spread out all over town. I'm not aware of any Russian neighborhood.

You might try the Russian House NaZdorovye and see what they tell you, 307 E 5th St, Austin, TX 78701

No Russian neighborhoods at all. One decent Russian restaurant, but not spectacular. Austin is not a city of ethnic neighborhoods like NYC, Chicago, SF before rampant gentrification, Boston or even Cleveland. We have a hippie gone yuppie central core with hipster pockets, and moderately ethnically diverse, but very culturally homogenous surrounding subdivisions and suburbs. We barely have a Mexican American neighborhood anymore.

The Montopolis Rd. area is heavily Mexican-American.

Much of Riverside is still Latino/Mexican-American

My Russian buddy lives north near Steiner. Not sure if there are other Russians in the vicinity or not.

There is a Czech and German presence in Pflugerville (just north of Austin).

Jack Se Mas? I see this bumper sticker all over town.

I am not aware of a Russian community though.

You're going to find Czech and German presence all over Austin because they were the first two groups to settle here in Central Texas (Myself being 1/2 German and 1/2 Czech and having family here since the late 1800s in Central Texas). My family is spread out all over Central Texas, none in Pflugerville though, and we meet people of Czech decent all over.

Still he is right, Russians have never had a strong presence in the Austin area.
