Tahitian Village is outside the city limits. So any fixing would be through the HOA or Bastrop County. With a county growing so quickly, I'm sure they are pretty far down the list of getting attention.

I love that area, but those long crazy street names would give me a hand cramp.

There's a street named Molokini? That's the tiny island off Maui that is an eroded crater

I looked up this place... This is hilarious. As far as I can tell these are all Hawaiian words, so why is it called Tahitian Village?

But more importantly, why do they think Texans will be able to spell/pronounce those names?

As one of the nine or so (lol - I jest, but not by much) Hawaiians living in Central Texas, I've always found humor in the premise of Hawaiian street names - in a neighborhood called Tahitian Village - in Central Texas.

As an aside, my husband loves how easily those crazy Hawaiian names roll off my tongue.

Maybe they thought some Hawaii Five-0 episodes would be shot there

I'm a Realtor and an appraiser, I have appraised several properties in Tahitian Village through out the years, to say the roads suck is an understatement. I asked my old boss about the roads once, he told me that the HOA and some contractor left them high and dry or something happened with the HOA and the contractor that was building the roads in the subdivision and they left and didn't finish the job and they just left them like that.

I had to do an appraisal once and stopped well before the house I had to appraise, I told the owner I parked a few house down because the road looked dangerous past that point. He laughed and told me that a few years before a car got stuck there, they called a tow truck and the tow truck got stuck and they had to call a larger tow truck to tow both vehicles out!

I agree that you should not expect paved roads. Bastrop has been through a lot, and well the paved roads for a rural area are not a current priority for the city. Just remember though you are getting a pretty awesome town with great people at a stone's throw from Austin proper with great amenities. take the roads as you're gaining a lot especially considering the nearby lake!

Wow...and after cycling 20+ miles on Shoal Creek Blvd and even in some very expensive neighborhoods yesterday, I thought the Austin roads were bad

Exclamation Thats Bastrop Texas for you

Lived here for 18 years now. Full of coruption. Should have lived here 18 or more years ago. Sheriff had jacked up truck with thousands of dollars worth of accessories. Its the same just hide it a little better. Curupt from representative from top to bottom. If you notice a nice road...well its because a rep or its family member uses or lives on it. Good luck if you dont know someone here

Bastrop cares more about their dogs then their children. All surounding towns built community centers and other recreations for there kids. Not Bastrop, they instead put up two dog parks. One area promised to kids was in front of police station but lied to us and put dog park there instead. Curupt officials. Ask Kleinsmidt.
