That's the response I got whenever i tried to find property. Even when you buy, some HOAs cap out how many pets you can have. My former HOA limited pet ownership to two cats (no dogs). My S.O.'s HOA recently amended to forbid dogs.

They can do that? What about people who already had a dog? Are they expected to get rid of it?

Smile Finding an Austin Realtor

Hi Megan-
I recently went to Austin to check it out in October 2007. Before I went, I looked online for realtors. I checked their websites and what they had to say. I selected one realtor and wrote him an email. I was very upfront saying I was coming out to look only, and was not ready to buy. I explained that I liked his website and was wondering if he would be interested in meeting with me to discuss different areas. I told him that if I decide to relocate I would use him as my realtor.

he was great!! He took me to several condos to show me areas and what was available. He did more than I was expecting.
Check this website for housing info: Austin Real Estate | AustinHomeSearch | Austin Realtors | Austin TX Real Estate It will be helpful.

I hear you about having pets. I have two cats, but I do believe renting for a while would be a good idea as there are so many areas that have different things to offer.

good luck. Keep me posted. I am still considering Austin.

katy

Hi
I don't know if you need this still but there are tons of websites that list apts that allow pets. Just google pet friendly housing or pet friendly apartments.
Apartment Rental and Hotel Directory accepting Dogs, Cats and Other Pets

BringFido.com - Pet Friendly Hotel & Lodging Directory

plus theres always craigslist..just check the cat or dog box and only the good ones come up!

Hang in there!
