My husband has accepted a job in Killeen that requires us to live near the area. I have found Georgetown ( the commute is fine) and am wondering which parts are the most family friendly. We have a toddler and will be renting for the first year to get acquainted with the area, but will buy in the long term. For rent we are hoping to find a house for less than $2500 for a three bedroom. I like the Victorian style homes in "old town" but from my research Georgetown Village has more younger families. Any advice. We are looking at private school so public school feeder patterns are not an issue. Are there other areas within Georgetown that we are not considering (ie berry creek)?

Villages of Berry Creek, Woodlake, Summercrest are all possibilities. You might find a rental in that price range in Berry Creek itself. Perhaps Serenada.

Thank you. Are any of those neighborhoods more family friendly? It seems like Georgetown is very spread out. Would any of the neighborhoods be considered walkable?

Depends on what you mean by walkable.

If you mean able to walk to a grocery store, school, etc., Woodlake would be your best bet, with Georgetown Village coming in second and Serenada third. Villages of Berry Creek, Berry Creek, and Summercrest have amenities, but you'd have to drive to schools or a grocery store or other shopping - but only about 10 minutes!

Old Town is walkable to a lot of amenities, including the courthouse square, but the closest grocery store and shopping center would be a five minute drive.

Georgetown really isn't that spread out in Texas terms.
