Through the online papers and blogs I've been sort of keeping track with what's going on in Austin over the two years I've been gone. However, after seeing lots of cool pics posted in other forums I'm wondering if I might request anyone who has photos of recent developments downtown to post them. By recent I mean buildings that have gone up or construction that has started in the last two-and-a-half years. I'm heading back in 60 days and I'd like to get an idea what to expect. Thanks in advance!

Here's a few pics I took while riding my bike around town about a month back. The city views are from Auditorium Shores and the other is along the Shoal Creek trail at the base of the Monarch. I actually think the city looks best from the west, but I haven't got around to taking any photos from that angle yet.

Awesome. Good stuff. Aside from a couple of new high rise buildings it really still looks a lot like it was when I left it, and the entire time I was there I don't remember there ever being a lack of cranes on the skyline.

Anyone else have something to share? I know it's New Years, so maybe we'll get a little more action tomorrow or Wednesday.

There's a couple of new major sites down in the city that are just coming up. Here's a great link that really tracks this stuff, focusing mostly on condos but other projects as well:

Only if all of those buildings get built. That picture is fun except for the CHEESY fireworks in the sky...my goodness.

I'm going to take more pics this week.

That's almost kind of scary. How much am I gonna be expected to pay in taxes for clean up of those year round fireworks?
