I in no way way shape or form said or implied any such thing.

Austin 97 said they had a good point. Since their point was that the decision was a racist one I want to know why he thinks Sheryl Cole and Mike Martinez are racists (both voted in favor of the Springdale)

Highlights of the evening:

Susana Almanza accusing Habitat for Humanity of taking bribes from developers

Her Campaign Manager, Daniel LLanes yelling at city council (as he is being escorted out by security) "You are all F-ing Racists". You can hear this if you listen to the next agenda item.

Security then telling the group with Springdale Farm that they should be escorted by security to their cars for safety.

PODER financial supporter and owner of dozens of properties around town, Rosa Santis received a $800,000 loan from the City of Austin. She recieved a $200,000 loan last year.

Minute 25:22 = Classic!!!!
December 11, 2014 City Council Meeting - The City of Austin, TX

(again - agenda item #153)

Also - Don Knotts (minute 33:08) talking about homeowners mowing down a party with a machine gun. It was a Prozac moment.

actually they had many points. Their main point was that the farm should not be allowed to be an event center and the zoning should not be changed.

It detracts from their argument to bring in racism, but the point still is valid.

They had many points. Mine is that regardless of your disagreement with the city, making unfounded accusations of racism clouds issues, inserts discord in civic discourse and is generally abhorrent. This person and her obnoxious hordes have a real chance and winning city office and inserting scorched earth policy into the daily discourse of the city of Austin.

It would be a horrifically bad idea.

Vote Against Susana Almanza - she does not posses the temperament to be a city leader.

I'd have to agree with Komeht. She doesn't have the slightest ability to meaningfully argue a point (even if it's a valid point) because she's so caustic. It's literally the fundamentals of debate. If she's elected, she'll only hurt East Austin because those on the council will be very inclined to ignore her concerns, regardless of how legitimate they are.

I agree. She could become our Hispanic version of John Wiley Price. Just a distraction that quickly burns any political currency available while alienating the constituency in her district. Hopefully she won't go to jail like JWP.

JWP once stopped a Dallas council meeting because a fellow councilmember referred to a "fiscal black hole" and Price demanded an apology because the term was "racist". This topic dragged out for 10 minutes.

Agree. As much as I agree with her on this issue, the kind of discourse she is likely to bring to council is needlessly divisive and harmful to getting things done. Actually, maybe it's good if city council "accomplishes" less.

Yay! I predicted the white vote would coaless aroung Pio along with some hispanics (younger, more white-friendly) would give Renteria 50%+ runoff vote [even though whites are the minority in this district]. So far, right on target!

Final Early Vote tally

District 3 - Sabino "Pio" Renteria 57% vs. Susana Almanza 43%

[One note: Clearly based on the totals so far, I believe the vast majority of hispanics voted for Almanza.]
