Does anyone have an elevated front porch? If so, how many steps do you have? Do you like it?

We had an elevated front porch in our last house... I guess I liked it, I have never stopped and thought about it before...
Description: we walked up the ground level walkway (concrete) about 5 feet then 1 step but it then was about 3 feet until the next set of 2 steps then that was level for another 4 feet to the front door. So we had 3 stairs/steps.
There was only 3 stairs so it was not difficult to manage with shopping bags.
Good Luck!

Still concerned about your elevation, huh? I totally understand
If you have an actual porch you can sit on and then the yard is lower, you may have less trouble with bugs when you are sitting on your porch?
We don't have a porch on our front (as you probably saw in the pics I sent you) but we have one in the rear, although our rear yard isn't finished yet.
Where I'm working, we have about every different elevation with dropped fronts and backs you could imagine. You are more than welcome to come out and take a look at some of the possibilities, or if you have a specific question in mind (like what does an elevated front porch look like) I could snap a pic of another house and send it to you.

Thanks Rae. We are moving forward even though our porch is higher. It's about 4 feet off the the ground. The construction of the stairs is the most concerning since we want it to look good. We do have a large porch.

Are your stairs going to be parallel or perpendicular to the driveway?

They will be right in front of the porch and the walk will curve to the driveway. So, I guess that's parallel.
