mark311 is on a distinguished road
It took me a day or so to figure out what DH was when I first saw it used on City-Data. The first few times I saw it, I naturally thought it meant "Designated Hitter". I still think of David Ortiz everytime I see it used.

I guess it must depend on the types of forums. My first forum was a diet bulletin board I found in 2003. Besides the DH, DS, etc, they had LOL, ROFL, BTW, IMO, IYKWIM, and tons of others. It took me awhile to figure them all out! I don't see many of them being used on this board, so I just wonder if it's more the type of forum or that most of the people here don't post on a lot of other forums.

Urban dictionary is always good for figuring out online acronyms... I also have seen DH used on different sites:

Urban Dictionary: dh

But I kind of like figuring it out... there are some topic-specific ones that pop up, and you'll see them on different message boards relating to the topic... like, I've been looking at these deal-related forums (tracking low prices/offers, places like slickdeals.net). People would often post offers with the acronyms B&M, YMMV. Now I knew YMMV... but had to figure out that B&M = Brick & Mortar, ie in-store only deals.

Hey, Twange, if the Cavs had played AFTER the Spurs, they would have known to follow suit. Someone got tricky and made their game 'jump' the Spurs game .

Ha! I didn't expect them to win anything this year but...now I can root for the Spurs since my friend (from Cleveland as well, but now lives in LA) is a turncoat Lakers fan. I love to hate them
