Personally, I always get scared when there's a kid on a sidewalk (or street) trying to ride his (it's always a "his") skateboard but is constantly falling off it. It's scary when I'm walking by them and it's scary when I'm driving by them. I keep expecting them to slam into me or go flying out in front of my car.

I turn into a 35 year old (which I am, actually) and want to "talk to their mother."

Also, it was VERY frightening riding my scooter in LA. The drivers are absolutely insane, and I was in constant fear for my life. I don't know (and didn't care) if it was illegal or not... I rode on the sidewalk when I could. Again, though, I'm in my 30s, and therefore actually notice what's going on around me (pedestrians, etc...). Teenagers mostly don't. I didn't either when I was one, so I can't really hold it against them.

Also, I'm not sure where to ask, but I've been wondering for a while: How do you get it to stop saying "Senior Member" and have it say something devastatingly witty instead?

Once your rep points get above 100(I think). This just happened to me recently as that option became available.

How I've managed to get rep points being a grumpy scold, I have no idea.

As for riding your scooter on the sidewalk, I have to admit, on certain streets here there's NO FRIGGIN" WAY I'm going to ride my bike in traffic. I'll take the ticket! You're right though, as you get older you do become more aware of others and your surroundings...at least one would think so...

Am I the only one that immediately yells "ha ha" out the window ala Nelson from The Simpsons when a skater/biker falls over? I can't freaking help it. Drives the wife insane.

Yeah, my husband does that, but he'd probably be glad to tell you you were the only one. Only problem with him is, when the shoes on the other foot, he takes a different view!

Hey, does anyone know what shut down Bee Caves Rd westbound from Riverhills to Cuernavaca yesterday? The traffic westbound was stopped and the cops were routing everyone down Riverhills all the way around to Cuernavaca - that's a heck of a detour!

A fatality accident. It was on the radio and news last night but I didn't really listen to the details.

Does anyone know what happened out in SW Austin tonight? Lots and lots of sirens, heading somewhere out past us, maybe on 1826 and Slaughter ln area?

You know, I was afraid it was a fatality - I almost posted on the other thread about "Why so many fatal car wrecks" but I didn't know for sure. This is the second fatality I've seen on Bee Cave. It wasn't in the Statesman today, but that doesn't surprise me. Thanks Love Roses for the info.
