Hi - I am an experienced software professional and currently in Chicago. I am planning to move to austin and would like to get some thoughts on what companies can I apply for. I know there are lots of companies but if I am looking for a fortune 500/1000 kind of company what would be my options. How is the job hiring scenario there ? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks
Krishna

I'll bite, as an experienced software professional what do you currently do? Need more info. Personally. I'd drop that 5F00 requirement.

austin is not a good city for f500, maybe dallas instead. Im not sure why any self respecting software professional would want to work for a f500 company instead of a real software company.

We have google, amazon, ebay, paypal, apple and a ton of actual smaller software companies.

I agree. If you are a software professional the best place (all else being comparable) to work is for a company that profits from software.

I think the job opportunities will vary significantly depending on skills.
