Arrived in Austin today, staying in a motel near friends until I find a place to rent. I sold all my furniture at the beginning of summer because I thought I was moving to CA and wouldn't ever come back to Austin. Alas... gotta start all over here!

But it was gorgeous arriving to the beautiful sky, the green hills, and some radio stations that have content other than Rush Limbaugh or religious preaching. fortunately I have lots of audio books to get me through places like Arizona, NM, and the Texas panhandle.

sydtow: I've never been to Catalina but I can imagine it would be very mild and... uh.... too foggy and cold for my tastes. I prefer the inland urban areas like South Pasadena and Silverlake. I grew up on the CA coast and have had my fill of that chilly damp air.

Default Welcome Back Kotter!

I see you finally came out of your "deeptrance" and returned to Austin.
We missed you!

Yeah, right... you missed having yet another car on these streets and highways?

I'll do my best to drive slow in the fast lane, turn without signaling, and do lots of rubbernecking whenever there's anything unusual going on in the Mopac median
