Talking Farmers Insurance

This home owners insurance is all new to me. What type of coverage does a person need in owning a home in Texas? What do you pay a year for your insurance with Farmers. Need to find an insurance company by friday Jan 18th. Any info would be great. Thanks again

[quote=Texacan;2500979]I got my best quote with Farmers Insurance Group. Since Texas has the highest homeowners premiums in the nation, I would get several quotes.

Same for me - Farmers was the lowest qoute

You really need to go to a farmers agent because insurance cost can vary depending on alot of things like structure type;distance to emergency services etc. Also when comparing be sure to look at replacement. This will pay the difference between depreciated cost and replacement cost on the loss. Aslo remember you can buy a cadillac policy or a VW ,so compare what it covers when getting quotes. Since farmers determines the cost of the policy the main way a agent qoutes lower is to reduce the coverage.

This is likely too late, but we use Germania (available in Texas only) for our home, farm, and auto insurance. So far, the only company I've found that can beat them on rates and meet them on service is USAA.

When we first bought the ranch and used Germania because they were one of the few that provided the kind of insurance we needed, we, of course, started getting calls from insurance agents telling us they could beat our rates no matter who we had. Each time, I simply said, "Germania" and they said, "Never mind" and went away.

Claims are handled promptly and well, with no hassle whatsoever. What impressed me most, however, was when the F5 came through. We didn't have any damage and, of course, didn't call them. They had their hands full, and they knew exactly where the damage was in Jarrell (being all local people), but I got a call two or three days after the storm from our Germania agent asking if he could bring an adjuster out just to walk our roof to make sure there was no damage. First time I ever had the insurance call ME to make sure everything was okay!

Some years later, when we had a bad hail storm and I called to ask them to come out and look at the roof, they, on their own, sent someone to look at the roof of our rent house in Austin to make sure that it was okay, as well, there being storms all throughout the area.

They've earned my loyalty, that's for sure!
