Looking to buy hay bales in Austin. Anyone know where to get it. It's for a party.

You're looking for straw, not hay. Hit up craigslist or tractor supply.

Could be a horse party like the ones Mr. Ed and Wilbur threw for Ed's birthday...

Second vote for Callahans. If you want it a bit cheaper and in bulk you can check out some of the feed stores off the freeway past Georgetown but for local ease nothing beats Callahans.

At Tractor Supply you're going to get hay, not straw - at least, I've never seen straw for sale at Tractor Supply and I've been to most in the counties north of the river and some south.

Callahan's MIGHT have straw bales.

Don't know why Sam.adams33 thinks you're looking for straw instead of hay, though. If hay will do you fine, then Tractor Supply, Callahans, or any feed store should have it. Don't know if any of them will have straw bales.

Try craigslist.

First cut squares should be going for $4 for cow quality, $5-6 for horse quality.

Correct. Lots of city folks get those little bitty straw bales confused with hay bales.

My grandkids checking out their other grandpa's hay bales at his Sulfur Springs ranch over the Christmas holiday:

I had to get bales of hay for the school fundraiser last month. I used Paleface down 71. It was $13 for a 2X2X4 rectangle of hay/straw. And if you return it dry (not sure if you need it for food or decoration), they give you back $6 per each one.
