And I have two adult children who learned to drive in Texas, including how to use access roads, and guess what? I was concerned with safety, too, but I didn't see access roads as a huge safety issue. Also, they both were smart enough to know (and were told) NOT to drive into water over the road, and for God's sake don't drive AROUND barricades!

Of all the things that concerned me, as any parent, when they were growing up (and learning to drive), access roads and low water crossings were not high on the list.

"Average" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Do you understand anything about flooding? Our ground has been saturated for some time. Once that point is reached, heavy rains (several inches per hour) will cause significant runoff. These rains were not slightly above average. Otherwise our lake wouldn't have risen 20 ft in a week.
