I can't tell if that's the same incident. Which crossing is this and from which side? During a water rescue we will have units on both sides of the low water crossing and because of that we sometimes won't know what the other side looks like.

Why would anyone try this?

****It is a very steep fine if you try to cross and don't make it. One woman we rescued this summer was handcuffed and charged with child endangerment the second she was rescued. She had her kids in the car. Not to mention it is probably the most dangerous type of rescue we perform.

Turn around, don't drown. The life you save may be your own!

Yep, that's the same incident. That's why I didn't recognize the trucks, we were on the other side of the crossing.

Just curiuos, but do the fines levied on these fools even approach paying for all that effort? Or are we all paying for them....

No, The fine is regulated because it is a traffic violation (disregarding a traffic control device) so the sheriffs dept. is the one issuing the fine. On that note, if you cause a brush fire that gets out of control and is deemed to be negligence, then you can receive a bill from the fire dept. and that gets really expensive really quick ($100's of dollars per hour per truck), not to mention the property damage to neighboring properties such as fences, sheds, equipment and so on if it spreads beyond your property line.
