Looking to relocate to the Austin area for work.
We are looking at Circle C, Lakeway, Steiner Ranch or Great Hills to purchase a home.
Is one area better than the others for Elementary School age kids ?
Also, is one area better than the others for commuting downtown for work ?
Thank you in advance for your info.

Schools are a wash. Circle C or Great Hills would be a MUCH better downtown commute than Steiner or Lakeway!

Yeah, drop Steiner or Lakeway if you're commuting downtown. Not worth it.

Great Hills is a beautiful area. Older construction, I'd guess a little less supply compared to Circle C. Your dollar will go a little further in SW Austin.

All great schools.

It is also about five minutes faster downtown at rush hour from Circle C than from Great Hills. Not that much difference. Better green space at Circle C -- better shopping at Great Hills only because of the Arboretum. About the same other than that.

We just came from AISD in the Circle C area. AISD is AISD. Run!

Great hills has the golf course and great hills park right in the middle. It also has bull creek park, st eds, forest ridge and balcones canyonland preserve land adjoining.

great hills is closer to the domain which has the main high end shopping in town.

OP didnt mention shopping or green space though, just proximity to downtown and elem schools. Great hills feeds into Hill or laurel mountain (RRISD) plus magellan is quite close.

Great Hills park - 59 acres. Bull Creek park - 48 acres. Circle C Metropolitan park - 545 acres. Plus Grey Rock golf course, which is now a municipal course and doesn't require a membership to play.
