Default bathroom vanities question for realtors

I want to get some Realtors opinion on what they see their Austin clients preferring...

I have a 4 bed 2 bath house. I'm about to remodel the 2nd bath. It has a 60" vanity with a single bowl. Would it be better to put in a double bowl or leave it a single bowl with a ton of counter space? We don't have a preference either way so we'd prefer to do what the market prefers.

thanks.

As a general rule, I think most customers prefer to have the double bowl.

In a second bath? I wouldn't do a double... only in the master. But then again, I'm not an agent, just a homebuyer.

I agree with atlanta hope. I'm building a new home, and I only put one in the second bathroom.

I'm not a realtor nor do I live in Austin (so why am I here? - lol!) but two sinks in a secondary bathroom would be my preference because more than one child could brush their teeth at once. I would think it would make the bathroom more "user friendly" considering the residents of three secondary bedrooms would be using it.

I just remodeled my kids bath and we took out the single bowl and replaced it with 2 (my kids love it!). I know of 2 other families that are now doing the same thing after seeing our remodel. I highly recommend it.

We (me and my two siblings) grew up sharing a bathroom. One basin was for us two boys, the other was for my sister....worked out about even. However, the bathroom was huge for a second bath....the basins were on opposite sides of the bathroom and had several feet of counterspace, as well. In a tighter configuration, a single basin may work better.

I'm not an agent, but in new home sales, and I have a 4-2.5 I show frequently. One of the objections has been either wanting a 3rd full bath, or "at least a double sink" in the 2nd full. But then again, you have to keep in mind that the people who like the single bowl, probably don't say anything.

Double sink gets my vote though.

Do what you want. I wouldn't base it on resale. If the new owner really wants one, they will put it in themselves. Plus, it leaves less counter space.

If it's a larger home where a family with teenagers would be sharing the bath, go with a double bowl. If it's a smaller home, and the counterspace is going to be very limited with a double, I'd stick with a single bowl.

In reality, I've never had a buyer select or deselect a home based on something like that. It's way down the list of consideration factors.
