I have done a lot of research on new homes and have found this forum the best place to get information. We finally sold our house in Leander and went looking for homes again this weekend. We have been to Sendero Springs before and liked it......OK. Kinda far from work (BeeCaves) but I dont work that often to fuss about it. We walked into the Davenport model and fell in love! I got all kinds of excited when the salesman told me that there were only a few options and that the house was very close to what you get for the base price of 329k!! I thought for sure in this market I could get this house for around 300k. No dice, they dont deal on the price of the house, he could however do away with the lot premium and help pay closing costs and title fees. So I looked into Streetman Homes and read the great thread about them and how they operate. Even after all that, I still think that the house is some how a good deal? Its not the price per foot that is good, over 100 in Round Rock, but the standard features were out of this world! My brother recently built a Custom home by Jimmy Jacobs and this Streetman was just as nice. So tell me, is getting next to nothing off a good deal? Or am I just crazy!!!!

We looked at Sendero Springs and liked the houses there. However, there is a quarry up there and one day a blast rattled our windows and set off some alarms down in Stone Canyon. Could have been a one time thing (we only lived there for six months) but you might want to talk to someone living there to see if it's ever a problem.

"in this market", Austin is not in a downturn. Don't pay attention to the national trends. The deals that were made on new construction were made in the slow winter months. Prices are increasing and you can expect to pay a premium. Try and get some free upgrades though.

If you are going to whistle through the graveyard, you should at least learn a couple of different tunes.

I am not to concerned about the blasting, I am concerned with the value of the home. Will a house like that increase in value as appose to one in Highpointe or Belterra?
