I just got phone surveyed bout the whole Uber Ordinance ordeal. Not sure who commissioned it, though I assume it is Uber. It sounded like a gal from New Jersey or somewhere northeast and the background noise had the whole boilerroom call center ambiance to it. She was quick, to the point, and rolled right through to the next question on a couple where I said "Huh?" or "Uhhhh..." while I was thinking. Must be getting paid by the completed survey.

Like a lot of these surveys, some of the questions were loaded and not really answerable outside a specific context. I'm sure that's so the results can be molded one way or another.

Also, some of my answers may seem contradictory but with no way to clarify. For example:

- Do I think Uber/Lyft should have to be finger printed? Yes (because cabs have to)

- Would I feel safer with finger printing? No (because I don't personally feel unsafe now. Ask me about it if my daughter is the rider though)

- Do I have a Favorable/Unfavorable Opinion of Uber? Unfavorable (I don't like corporate bullying, or having corporate entities sponsor local ordinances or trying to get a councilmember into a recall election because Uber doesn't like her) (but if asked whether I like Uber drivers, sure, no reason not to - so who is "Uber" in the question?)

- Do I have a favorable/unfavorable about Cabs? Unfavorable (seriously, they are lousy - but how is this answer going to be used)

Anyway, someone is spending money to get a "survey" to be used for or against the matter.

Never assume. I got surveyed once by Travis county about health and most of the questions were about smoking in public. Turns out that survey I partook in was used as public support for the smoking ban that got passed years ago.

And some of the questions were so loaded..like "Do you approve of smoking in a children's playground area ?"

So wait and see what the which side the local papers say there is "overwhelming public support".
