Curious as to why you want to know, but the easiest way I've found is to go to traviscad.org and look up the historical tax records. Search for when City of Austin appears on the list of tax entities for that property. That works for recent annexations.

For long-time-ago ones you could probably still get the info from the county tax appraiser or county tax collector, but might have to go in person.

yeah the by decade wasnt specific enough in the by decade pdf

I found what I was looking for here:

http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/edims/advance_search.cfm

Then I used some keywords (like annexation) and bounded the time periods.

It is definitely like looking at history. You can see things like name changes to well known streets, when particular neighborhoods got annexed etc.

they have converted the text so the text is somewhat cut and pasteable and searchable

So do these maps answer the question about whether some of the farther north subdivisions are "actually" Austin or not? I see that argument a lot on the forum here related to specifically the Avery Ranch area ... That tax paying and mailing address do not mean a property is actually in the city.

Looks to me that most of Avery was solidly annexed into Austin a decade or more ago, depending on the actual property.

If the question is just what it's in _now_, as mentioned TCAD always works.

You can also see on the Austin jurisdictions map.

Geocortex Viewer for HTML5

You can see what's full purpose, what's limited purpose, what's etj, etc.

Edit: Actually, you can search for an address and it will show the annexation history as well.
