Barton Creek is the best mall. What other type of shopping are you looking for? Any specific stores, etc.???

That look like a nice mall from the net is that the only mall in or near Austin. Are there any upscale stores like Parisian, Gucci, Tiffany & Co.? It seems like Austin is a nice city though.

It's one of three malls but it's definitely the nicest. Parisian isn't here but from experience, Nordstroms is way better than Parisian. It's at Barton Creek. The other stores, Gucci, etc. are not here. You can find them in Houston Galleria, three hours away.

Austin is more about uniqueness and individuality so I really don't expect to see a very upscale store mall anytime soon. There is a huge mall being built now in Lakeway but I don't know what stores will be there.

We might not have upscale name brand stores here like Dallas and Houston, but what we do have is unique and interesting local artists and shops. To me that is what makes Austin special. Keep Austin Weird!!!!

Actually, Austin has a high end outdoor mall opening in the spring at Braker and Mopac. Neiman Marcus is going to be there, but I'm not sure of what other stores. They are also opening a Whole Foods like the one downtown there, but it is going to be a few more years for that one to open.

Tiffany and Co. announced about 3 weeks ago that they will be opening a store in Austin...I guess that means that all the other $$$ retailers won't be far behind.

The *point* of moving to Austin, from this ex-Austinite, is to escape the mundane shopping-mall mentality.

Why shop REI(not-that-there's-anything-wrong with-REI), when one has Whole Earth?

Whole Foods is a local-gone-global, but don't forget Wheatsville for the "true Austin" experience.

Who needs a chain dept store when one has Emeralds???

Why Starbucks, when Spiderhouse?

Why Borders when there is Book People?

Why Lowes, when there is Breed and Co?

Why Panera when there is Upper Crust?

Why Walgreens, when you have Northwest Hills Pharmacy?

Why register at Tiffany when Clarksville Pottery is just so....cool.

I think you get the picture. There is "high end" shopping in Austin, but Austinintes love to be original.

Google the above mentioned merchants and let me know if I can help you find anything.

Kisses darling, kisses!
