Honestly, ever since 2011, summers in Texas have been far drier than normal. This heat and dryness just isn't normal at all, even for Austin.

The mornings and nights are somewhat decent, so I will take it!

Summers in Texas as a whole have been extremely unusual ever since the 2011 drought. It might be an effect of global warming, or it could be natural climate variation. Perhaps a combination of both.

Or, it might be God punishing the state?

This July is hotter than normal, dry though, desert like. But it looks like some rain next week...

C'mon y'all! 100s in July is nothing unusual.

Yes, 2011 was a horrendous summer but 2009 was no picnic either! 2000 was a BEAST with record heat into September. I don't find the dryness that unusual either, typically there is no rain in July unless we get a tropical system.

2007 (mild) and 2011 (brutal) seem like the two extremes of summer, so I guess anything in between those is normal.

That's what I was thinking. Seems pretty normal to me. Hot and no rain. The summers wax and wane a bit year to year, but overall, meh, it's summer in Texas.

False. These recent summers are frying your brain and memory; rainfall normally is quite decent in Austin during July/August.

It is not normal for Austin to have no rain during summer.
