Cedar Park & glass/bottle recycling
I moved to Cedar Park the exact week a new trash collector was taking over for my neighborhood. The old trash collector recycled glass but the new one doesn't. Anyone know why????? This is particularly annoying to me because Cedar Park USED to recycle glass and now doesn't. Every city should be equipped to recycle glass- this is rediculous!
Now, I need to figure out what to do with our bottles/glass. After recycling them for more than 10 years, it IRKS me to no end to put them in the trash can.

1431 Transfer Station Recycling Center | Ecology Action of Texas
Cedar Park

Cedar Park (1431 Transfer Station): - 2665 Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park (NOTE: Don't look for a road sign as this is a tiny dirt road on your right as you head west
on 1431. Look for the Transfer Station set back from the main road)
- From 183 and 1431:
Go west 2.5 miles and it will be on your right, behind some trees. If you see HUR Industrial or the Driving Range or the Cartwright Bar-B-Que restaurant, you went too far (sigh).
- From Lakeline and 1431:
Go west 1.1 miles and it will be on your right, behind some trees.
- From Jonestown:
Go 3.4 miles taking Nameless Rd. east then left on 1431. It is on your left, behind some trees. If you see a self storage business off to your right, you went too far.

Very useful information! Thank you! At least I know where to take bottles. Now, it's time to take up the battle w/ the City of Cedar Park.

I live in cedar Park too and have been horrified that I can't recycle junk mail & cardboard. That's a whole garbage can right there. I called everyone and found that I can drive 40 minutes to a place that will merely bundle it up and send it somewhere else to be recycled. Kind of a waste of gas. It just kills me to throw that stuff in the garbage.

Have you tried the place southbound provided? I am going to check into it! That's not far to drive.

You can take paper (including junk mail), cardboard, and fiberboard (i.e. cereal boxes, etc.) to the recycling center on Deepwood Drive (close to Round Rock High School). No need to bundle the cardboard or paper.
The also take aluminum, tin, steel (cans, etc.--labels may be left on) and plastic (#1 and #2 only), and even styrofoam peanuts and egg cartons.
I guess it depends where you are in Cedar Park as to how convenient that location is.

Nearly all Elementary Schools have a dumpster in the parking lot for paper recycling, anyone can use it and the funds raised by it go to the school.
They don't take card or phone books tho, as they have a glossy card cover. But if you really want to get phone books recycled, spend a few minutes ripping the pages free from the cover - good exercise!
Plus Whole Foods (Gateway) and Central Market have glass, paper and metal (I think) recycling containers outside the store.

The new Cedar Park recycling does allow more paper options now, but the "no glass" rule really bites. I agree - we should take it up with the City since we can't choose our own service. I've never lived where I didn't have a choice for garbage service. (just moved here from Colorado)

We're in the unincorporated area of Leander and there is no recycling program. Really bites. Called the garbage pickup service and they have never pursued recycling. A shame. I'll check into that place on 1431.
