I just hope all the Californians who move to the west & southwest side of Austin will help to boot our current jughead congressman out of office in November. (in our gerrymandered district that runs all the way down to SA)
Lamar Smith makes Dubya look like Diane Feinstein. (politically & intellectually)
& it would be great if one of you would open up a good "fresh" fish sandwich joint or Santa Maria BBQ joint, too.

Good point. I guess i mean "frozen fresh fish" as opposed to Sysco/Costco/HEB mega box frozen fish.
All i know is.... i've eaten at at least a dozen places in SoCal that would serve these amazing fish sandwiches (normally on grilled sourdough), sometimes with slaw & fries...& they were great.
& fwiw, I'm texan.....I just love the "best" food from ALL areas.

Who wouldn't miss great low prices (most of the time) on
a vast array of stuff that you can't get most other places...great staff, and an awesome cheap wine selection!!! Even my doggie treats were a couple bucks cheaper than anywhere else!!

Oh my....this Trader Joe's love is kind of scary. If and when (I'm sure it's just a matter of time) it gets to Austin, I will be sure to avoid it. I'm surviving just fine without it. Miss California all you want...just be prepared for eyes to glaze when you talk about 'back home'....

Hrmm...the Trader Joe's thing has gone kind of whack here.
TJ's is not just in California, it's all over the country but I'm not sure why it's been lumped with CA. Is it just the CA people who love TJ's?
I love and do miss TJ's but for pete's sake it's not a deal-killer. The thing about TJ's is that it's just the sort of place that would fit perfectly on South Congress somewhere, maybe next to Craft-O-Rama so I can get my craft bug and food bug dealt with in one blow.
Maybe this doesn't make much sense but I find it a little telling of the feel of TJ's. In the part of OC where I lived, the only places I could see as many people with as many tattoos as I see here in Austin were at Trader Joe's and Cost Plus. Same goes for piercing besides the ears. Oh...the food is great and cheap, too

Oh, come on, we all know Trader Joe's is a cult! Just listen to anyone online from somewhere that has one (not just California), and that's clear! (LOL!)

My neighbor, who is in love with Trader Joe's (Arizona area) just said one is supposed to be coming to Houston and to the Arboretum area. I don't know if she's just repeating rumor or not though.
