I think that a couple living in a villa in Dubai with a 4 month old might be able to live in a smaller house - one that rents for $2500 or so. I'm sure they are flexible about many factors, just as I am sure that a 4BR 2500sf ranch in Circle C probably won't satisfy their most important criteria. But hey, I could be wrong.

I 'd suggest a nice apartment close or within downtown. Wouldn't mess with a home.

If you don't have school age kids yet stay out of the suburbs ! Do you have at least five years before you have to go there. I go as close to downtown Austin as possible The $2500 a month rent budget is a little tight.

Oh, but you speak of a dry heat. I don't know about Dubai but usually more arid climates also experience a cool-down effect in the evenings. Maybe even a little dry, evening desert breeze. During summers here in Austin, the thermostat doesn't drop too far down when the sun sets and there's definitely not anything resembling an air current. Its just plain muggy and sticky. You should really consider visiting all the places you're interested in during the extreme months of the year and not during the temperate months. Dead of winter and when the summer heat peaks.
