Default Would you buy in this area???
We've been house hunting, and finally found a few properties that we like (we're still officially in DC, so we continue to be fairly unfamiliar with the area). However, we're wondering about the location of one specific property on the southeast side of Travis Heights. Based on the location (see link below) and proximity to 35 and Oltorf, do we have reason to be concerned about safety or crime? Would you buy a house in this location, or would you hesitate?

It is just East of SoCo. I am not sure of the quality of the neighborhood given its proximity to the apartments on I-35.

This site gives historical crime data for each zip.

City of Austin - Historical Crime Information

There are six zips with total crimes over 10,000 in 2007. 78704 is in this list.
In answer to your question, I would not buy in this area. Crime data would be the most important consideration where I live. Hope this helps.
