Why would they crack you up? You pick up a whole family and move and re-establish yourself with jobs and everything else- sometimes its harder to do it the second time. You have to know the situation.

Some moves are pretty expensive and draining.

The Northeast gets a bad wrap because of the weather mainly. Too many people falling for the hype of the South.

I just find it funny that people were able to get here, do it based on whatever minimal research - then expect everything to be what they left. When the realization that it's NOT sets in, they blame the city... and act like they've been forcibly placed here and held against their will.

I don't care if it's "harder" you make choices in life - why be miserable and try to make those around you miserable as well? That's just stupidity.

Pretty much all of it unless you enjoy high state, property and sales tax, companies and employment opportunities leaving in droves and a state government that handles money worse than the fed if that is possible.

No, the South still gets a bad rep up north. When I went to school at CMU people assumed I was a hick, when they found out I was from Louisiana they would ask "Do you wrestle alligators?"

When they flunked out and I went on to graduate and land an awesome job, you wouldn't believe the enormous smile I had on my face.

From what I gather, the "yankees" I met that moved south tended to be the carpetbagger variety that wanted to come down here to take advantage of the low prices, hospitality, and weather, basically milk us for all we're worth. A lot of them are surprised that "us hillbillies" got us an education and are licking at the chops thinking of ways to make money off them. The predator becomes the prey...
