I saw this today. What a hoot!

704 Huerta St, Austin, TX 78704 - realtor.com®

A 1-1 for $556,288!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in fashionable 78704 zip code Austin Texas.

My what a cottage!

+17.12%
More expensive than
nearby properties

Ha ha ha!

You could pay only 400k for this. In New York state
4228 Rt. 212, Lake Hill, Lake Hill, NY, 12448 | Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty, Ltd.

Or pay half as much for this 4/2.5 2332 Sq Ft two story farmhouse on 1.96 acres.
5221 & 5223 State Route 28 Road, Mt.Tremper, Mount Tremper, NY, 12457 | Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty, Ltd.

Austin-sheesh-embarrassing!

Speculation.

How can you compare a rural house to a downtown property on a main corridor?

What bubble?

Looks like a really nice fixed up place. Literally just off south 1st.

There's also really nice, much cheaper places in Austin if you want/are willing to live in BFE.

Default wow you must work for the real estate industry!

This is a joke! At the least surreal! I am very familiar with this street and these homes and 10 years ago this was a shack almost. Yes, be all for the excess money and refuse to see the irony-because you have to stand for something.

The real estate industry thanks you for being their cheerleader! Ra Ra!

Um cause I can and did.

If you are a retiree and looking for a good price and don't mind cold weather than you would compare a rural house to a downtown property on a main corridor, no?

No. You'd be looking for a specific type of property, the two would likely not be in the same search parameters.

And I'd much rather see that, than the ugliness of what is popping up at Congress and St Elmo.

But it certainly isn't anymore. Which means it's probably had at least 100k if not more put into it since then.

Lol. I just realized that the property the OP linked isn't even for sale. Nor is it a 1-1 cottage.

Looks to be a 1400 sq ft 2-2 on a pretty good size lot.

Sure it does. There's plenty of stuff on the East/SE fringe of Bastrop and Caldwell.
