Hey y'all, just gathering some ideas for day trips and things to do in the surrounding areas of Austin. We are moving from Montana in 3 weeks! We like mostly anything, hiking, state parks, museums, farmers markets, literally anything. My sister said she wants to take me to go fruit picking out by Fredericksburg, and then go to Luckenbach. So there is one idea lol. Thank you for the suggestions in advance!

If you like hiking, you might want to check out Goodwater Trail in Georgetown.

There's also Inner Space Caverns in Georgetown.

As for State Parks, we have a lot of them!

You could make several day trips down to San Antonio to see the Missions and Museums and Botanical Gardens and Zoo. Austin has a fair number of museums of its own.

Take a train ride!

Lots, lots, LOTS more, but that's a start.

We've just returned from granbury Texas. Very nice place on the lake/Brazos. Quaint town square. More of an overnight trip since it is 2.5 hrs from Austin. Visit before it becomes a suburb of ft worth :/

Plenty of destinations in central Texas ESPECIALLY between Austin, San Antonio. That's were all the best state parks in Texas are located.
They are technically in the Dallas/Ft. Worth MSA but easily accessable to Austin. Both are great places to visit, so does it matter? Big Rocks State Park is awesome, as is Dino Valley.

I don't see that anyone mentioned Enchanted Rock.

If you're up for a drive to Waco (couple of hours up I35), you could go to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, and then hit Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Market at the Silos, or one of my favorite zoos, Cameron Park Zoo.

Go to Bandera for some horseback riding, either in town or at Hill Country State Natural Area. (There's lots of ranches that offer trail rides in Bandera and vicinity, that's just one of them.)
