Yep....we need a good Frog Strangler every 2-4 years or so.... to wash the riff raff out.

OP, if you do come and we get 4+ inches of rain, listen to the experts (here, on TV or at your Hotel) and get 2-3 opinions before driving out some place.

There are lots of low water crossings in Greater Austin (& Greater Georgetown) & you don't want to be stuck in one.

Might want to U toob "Austin Flooding" or "Austin Low Water Crossings" (or even for Gtown flooding) for videos.

Definitely. We don't plan on doing anything stupid. About 18 months ago we had a surprise flash flood roar through our area which swept an SUV into a drainage basin. The car and driver were immediately covered in dozens of feet of mud. Unfortunately he couldn't be retrieved for days.

Thanks for the warning.

Don't come, the roads are going to be horrible with lots of wrecks. Only saving grace is the storm is on a weekend, in the sense of preventing rush hour traffic deaths.

This weekend I'm staying in and watching movies on TV and cooking/eating chili. Temps in 70's so it'll feel like late October. My sprinkler has been off since Monday so my lawn will love this rain.

I wish you the best of luck. Your situation is identical to ours. We completely cancelled our trip (airlines, rental car company, and hotel gave us a refund or credit toward a future trip without a hassle). Holding off a couple of weeks is no big deal to us. And we definitely wanted to feel comfortable getting out of our car and walking the neighborhoods, and driving around without any worries. I hope you'll report back how it went for you.
