yes, but that is last year's list, we are looking for this year -- it is confusing because this year is called 2018, even though it is still 2017. National Merit sent the notifications to schools and local media yesterday but there isn't anything out there yet about Central Texas.

it would be interesting to see national merits per capita. St stephens has roughly 120 students per class, westwood has around 620

Because it's for the class of 2018 and the winners will be announced next year. It's just the semifinalist list that they published yesterday.

I can't say with certainty, but I'm fairly sure that being a National Merit finalist was a big factor in my getting full tuition scholarships to UT. Without trying to brag, the only people I heard of getting scholarships there were either stellar first-generation students or National Merits.
