this reminded me of the Jay Raetard show I went to back in 08 when he was still around. i saw him at Red 7. cool video... i wasn't in Austin back then in the 90s but there is still a punk vibe there in Austin. actually, now that i think of it... all my friends were into punk, black flag, bad brains, lost sounds, king khan and the shrines (well, not punk but its still a similar sound with that lo-fi garage sound). i was always hanging out at lovejoys listening to this music.

Seem pretty touristy to me.
What about the everyday sights those of us, who make under 100k annual, look at every day?
Not everyone lives near downtown or South Congress. In fact, the vast majority live in the (dare I say it?) sprawl that surrounds the city.
That' just the facts of life for most big cities.

Of course, all the touristy photos will highlight that one neighborhood everyone wishes they could afford to live in I guess.
-----> my opinion.

Default Suggestions?

These photos are great but do seem a bit touristy and of the city life type attractions. Any suggestions for a more low key natural setting - lots of big trees, an old barn, fields with flowers - things of that nature. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you actually think most of those people who live around South Congress make more than $100K? Don't be silly.

They rent, or own a condo. I know of some condos on SoCo that run $99K, newly remodeled... that's basically the price range for someone making $33K.

Now if you feel you must buy a large new house and don't make north of $100K, then yes you will be relegated to the burbs. But that's a tradeoff you decide to make.

I made a little less than a 100k each year and this is what I get to see on a daily basis. Perhaps a different view of the city.

These pictures are from the underground world of Austin. This is a manhole we worked a grave yard shift to remove a soldered lead leave splice on a telephone cable and replaced it with a Preformed stainless steel case.
