Ok as maybe one of the older people posting, and not even living in Austin, I can mention that I moved from Nashville to Austin in August '75. And even though K.C and the Sunshine Band was on rotation in Nashville, discos (as in '70's disco music with a dj) did not exist there. So in Austin there were a few of them, a whole new thing to me. And one of them, the Glass Menagerie, was in that space at the Driscoll that opens up on the corner of the building which I presume is now the bar. There was a lot of decorative glass partitions in the space, clear with black graphics on the glass. The hotel was slightly worn looking over all except for the club.

Other disco hangouts at that time were The Bucket in West campus, (aka the Keg in post-disco '80's) and Saturday's across Anderson Ln. from Northwest Mall (mall closed, no surprise, it was undersize). Even though I wasn't really into that music, the good part was you could meet girls, who would always dance with me. When I thought I could dance.

There were a couple that catered to the gay crowd, names forgotten. Can't think of the names or mental image of any more discos but as an aside there were none in South Austin.

I haven't been inside the Driskill since my nephew's wedding reception there in 1980. Attended a college dance on the mezzanine floor around 1964. It might be time to pay the place a visit.
