Default Blue Bonnets

Am I to assume that picking wild blue bonnets is illegal? What if you want a bouquet for your house? Is there somewhere you can buy them? Just curious.

It's illegal. I guess if you bought seeds and planted some in your yard, that would work. Or just go somewhere where noones at and grab a few. A few little kids (No, not mine and my neighbors ) picked a few when we took them to do pictures. My neighbor got nervous about it and shoved them in her shirt until she made it to the car and then put them in the floor of the car because she thought someone might see them I think if you get caught it's only a fineable offense.

It's frowned upon but it's not illegal. More of an old wives tale & a tradition (like not putting mayo on hamburgers).

Texas Department of Public Safety - Courtesy, Service, Protection

I'm sure it's illegal on private property, though.

Picking bluebonnets isn't illegal. Bluebonnets are annuals; if you pick them they won't go to seed and be there for next year.

Look at them, take pictures of them, but don't pick them.

Buy some fake ones at Garden Ridge if you want a bouquet for your house.

After reading that website (thanks!) ...Why do snakes like blue bonnets? I would be nervous about picking them also. I wonder if they would grow in a pot in lieu of a yard, since I will be living in an apt?? Love Roses...any ideas on that?

I'm sure they would grow in a pot, but I would make it a good sized one just so they had enough room. Thanks for the info on whether it's illegal or not. I know it's Illegal in Colorado to pick Columbines. I can't believe I got that wrong and I'm a native Texan

My 89 y/o mother (born in Dallas) told me for decades not to pick the wildflowers & not to put beans in my chili....that both were illegal. & both statements were good advice to folow.

Just didn't want a mommy to freak out if little johnny picked a bluebonnet or two sitting in a field in Brenham or Fburg when they drive out to get the annual pic.

Last year there were alot of bluebonnets on the main road leading into Steiner Ranch.....they must throw alot of seed out there. Hope it's good this year. (The Mountain Laurel is doing well this year).
